Website: Generative AI for Teens

Overview

This deliverable was for the PTW 320 Technical Writing class at University of Washington. For the duration of the class we worked in groups, delivering one portfolio piece every three weeks. We rotated project roles for each deliverable. I served as the Writer and Researcher. As a team, we decided to create a website about Generative AI- what it is, risks, scams and how to stay safe.

Challenges faced

The primary challenge I faced was the volume of research and writing to get done in a short amount of time. The turn around was quick so I ultimately spent one week researching, one week writing and then sent that off to the production specialist for final content output. In my honest critique of the final deliverable, I believe it could be more user-friendly with its navigation, aesthetics and information hierarchy.

Problems Solved and Content’s Impact

The project targeted teens and young adults (ages 14–21) with the goal of educating them about generative AI risks. The website offers clear, concise information on how GenAI works, how it gathers data, and how to recognize scams and misinformation. Designed to be approachable without being patronizing or alarmist, it helps young users stay safe while enjoying their time online.
